Strathberry
A Home from Home
for Strathberry
Strathberry, the Scottish luxury handbag brand, asked us to design a new store on Edinburgh’s notable Victoria Street. The brief was to create a retail experience that felt warm and personal, while also establishing a concept that could expand internationally.
The Challenge
Victoria Street is a world heritage site with a distinctive character – cobbled lanes, historic architecture and independent boutiques. The store needed to respect the period building while introducing a clear Strathberry identity. The brand wanted the space to feel less like a shop and more like a lounge: somewhere customers could relax, connect and appreciate craftsmanship.
Our Response
We developed the concept of the Strathberry Lounge – a boutique that feels domestic in scale and character. Period details such as arches, skirtings and a reclaimed fireplace were reinstated to ground the store in its heritage. The interior was layered with tactile natural materials – oak, walnut, cork panelling, brass detailing – and bespoke furniture with clean crafted lines.
Sustainability was central to the design. Marble offcuts were repurposed into handcrafted tables, and Strathberry’s own leather offcuts were used to upholster seating. Collaborations with local artists added depth and authenticity, from textile wall pieces to contemporary ceramics, reflecting the brand’s commitment to Scottish craft.
The Outcome
The Victoria Street store feels like an extension of Strathberry’s Edinburgh townhouse headquarters – a “home from home” where customers can experience the brand in a personal and authentic way. More than a place to shop, it is a space that celebrates detail, craftsmanship and belonging, setting a blueprint for Strathberry’s global expansion.
